Who Am I?

I'm at a conference this week for work. This afternoon I was in a session where we paired up with a stranger and told them "who am I." It was important to not describe what we did for a living but rather who we are. Once we were done with our description it was our partner's job to repeat back to us what they heard. Here's how my conversation went:

Me: I'm very organized. I meet deadlines. I'm detail-oriented. I get things done. I'm passionate about my team. I help them grow and succeed. The biggest compliment I can receive is when my staff is recognized for their hard work. I'm dependable. I'm loyal. 

My partner: It sounds to me that you are saying you're a leader. 

All modesty aside, she is right. I am a leader. It's what I love to do. But my leadership goes deeper than my career.

It's why I write this blog. It's why I post my struggles and successes on Facebook. It's because I want to help people. It feels fabulous to reach my weight loss goals but it feels 100 times better when I know I've helped someone else reach their weight loss goals.

That's why I love the Beachbody Facebook Challenge groups. Because it's a team environment where we can safely cheer each other on. One thing I found with those challenge groups was I was drawn to the role of coach. I loved to post words of encouragement to my fellow challengers when they were struggling and to tell them how proud I was of them when they reach one of their goals.

I thought to myself: I could do this!

And so I am.

I was already a Beachbody Coach - in all transparency it was so I could get a discount on my Shakeology. Now I'm just taking the next step and becoming an "Active Coach."

So, you may be wondering what that means.

It might not make much of a difference to you. If you enjoy reading this blog nothing will change here. This space will not become a Beachbody commercial. That would be a creepy thing to do.
